'Annie' The Musical Joins Denver's Hattitude Luncheon

DENVER (CBS4) - Broadway is making a stop at this year's Hattitude Luncheon as the musical "Annie" teams up with one of Denver's biggest luncheons.

There are hats and then there are hattitude hats. Every year around this time, women and young ladies begin shopping for the most stylish of head-wear.

This year Isabelle "Issie" Swickle, better known as "Annie" in the Broadway hit musical now playing at the Buell, stopped by Mariel Boutique in Cherry Creek to pick out a hat.

Issie is 9, but is reminiscent of someone much older.

"I think hats are cool. They can be cool funky, elegant, not elegant. Hats can kinda be anything you want them to be," she said at the hat shop.

Issie is not just attending the Hattitude Luncheon -- she's also going to perform.

"I'm gonna be singing 'Tomorrow'," she said.

The proceeds from the Women With Hattitude Luncheon will benefit the Women's Voices Fund at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. This young woman certainly has a voice as she says never give up on your dreams.

"If you believe in yourself, you know that you will get there one day, and that it will become a success. Just never give up, because it's worth it," Issie said.

The Hattitude Luncheon takes place Thursday May 7. Ticket information can be found on the Denver Center for the Performing Arts website.
