Adams County Deputy Acquitted On Sex Charges

BRIGHTON, Colo. (CBS4)- An Adams County jury acquitted former Sheriff's Deputy Henry Ford II Thursday on multiple sex assault and incest charges that cost him his job as a deputy.

The acquittal late Thursday came after a four-day trial and about five hours of deliberation.

"It was a traumatic event for Henry Ford and his family for over a year," said his lawyers Reid Elkus and Ryan Coward. "He is obviously thankful he was exonerated of these horrendous allegations."

The eight-year veteran of the sheriff's department was charged in 2014 with four counts including sex assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, incest and sex assault as a pattern of abuse.

The Adams County Sheriff fired Ford, 37, a few days later.

Then Adams County Sheriff Doug Darr said, "This is a violation of the public trust. We have a responsibility to make sure that the people who work within this agency are qualified, that they have the character and the ability to do the job, and to do it well."

Elkus said Ford would now try to put his life and family back together and try to heal himself and his family.

A call to a spokesperson for the Adams County District Attorney was not immediately returned.
