Denver's Air Is Deteriorating: New Report From Lung Association

DENVER (CBS4)- The American Lung Association believes the air quality in Denver is deteriorating.

A new report shows that Denver has fallen from the 26th to the 13th most-polluted city in the nation for ozone. The data comes from air quality monitors in and around Denver.

"We have actually made great strides since the days of the brown cloud back in the 70s and 80s but what you can't see now is ozone," said American Lung Association spokeswoman Cindy Liverance.

"It's disappointing, it's disappointing for a lot of our patients with lung and heart disease who notice it the most, they suffer the most when our air quality is poor," said Dr. David Beuther with National Jewish Health.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment expressed concerns about the inaccuracy and misrepresentation of air quality in the report.
