Denver City Employee Accused Of Taking Bribes For Contracts At DIA
DENVER (CBS4) - A Denver city employee accused of accepting money in exchange for his influence as a public servant has been indicted by a grand jury.
According to Lynn Kimbrough with the district attorney's office, Larry Stevenson, 45, is charged with two counts of bribery in the indictment filed Monday.
"The charges allege that Stevenson, an employee of Denver's Excise and Licensing Department, took several thousand dollars from a local businessman who wanted Stevenson's help to secure contracts or subcontracts at Denver International Airport without going through a formal bidding process," Kimbrough said in a statement.
Stevenson allegedly accepted a total of $5,500.
"He was not successful in his efforts to influence the contract process," Kimbrough said.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Stevenson and he's been placed on leave from his job.
