Man With Handgun Runs From School Of Mines Security

GOLDEN, Colo. (CBS4)- A man with a small handgun ran away from campus police on the Colorado School of Mines campus in Golden on Saturday afternoon.

Police said a white male, about 19 years old, attempted to enter the carnival event in the D lot, across from the Rec Center, just before 1 p.m. Saturday.

At that time security personnel were patting down people attending the carnival event. The security officer located what he believed to be a small handgun in the male's pocket.

Before the weapon could be removed the man ran away to the south. At that time Colorado School of Mines police were notified of the situation.

The male is described as a younger white male wearing a light blue shirt with the words "Property of" on the front. No other description was available.
