Air Force Academy To Lower Flags To Honor Cadet Who Died

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (AP) - Air Force Academy flags will fly at half-staff as the school conducts a funeral for a cadet who died last week.

The service for senior cadet Alexandre Quiros will be Wednesday at the Cadet Chapel.

Quiros died in his dorm room on April 2 after he was found there with unspecified injuries.

The cause of death hasn't been released. The Air Force is looking into the death, but the academy said the inquiry isn't considered a criminal investigation.

The 21-year-old Quiros was from nearby Colorado Springs and majored in astronautical engineering. He was expected to graduate in May and attend a graduate program at Rochester Institute of Technology.

The academy said he had been named to the Dean's List and Commandant's List multiple times for academic and military performance.
