Former State Trooper Arrested, Accused Of Sex Assault On A Child

PUEBLO, Colo. (CBS4)- A former Colorado State Patrol officer has been arrested, accused of sexual assault on a child in a relationship that was initiated online.

Colorado Bureau of Investigation agents arrested Marc Ziolkowski in Goodland, Kan. on Tuesday. He was taken to the Wallace County Jail in Sharon Springs, Kan. where he is being held without bond.

CBI agents launched the investigation in 2014 following a request for assistance from the Park County Sheriff's Office based on information about an alleged child exploitation incident that occurred in 2008.

Ziolkowski, 43, is accused of engaging in a sexual relationship with a teenage girl initiated through an online chat site in 2008.

The alleged assault is believed to have occurred in Park County in 2008.

Ziolkowski has previous law enforcement ties having worked as a member of the Colorado State Patrol, Fairplay Police Department, and is currently a member of the Goodland Police Department as a part-time employee.

Ziolkowski was placed on administrative leave upon the department being notified of the investigation. Ziolkowski has also been working at Northwest Kansas Technical College for the past year; he has been placed on suspension at this time.

The Colorado State Patrol confirms that Ziolkowski worked as a communications officer from 2003 to 2005 at which time he entered the CSP Training Academy as a cadet. He was assigned to the Park County troop before resigning for personal reasons in February 2010.
