Serious Crash Sends Driver To Hospital

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Aurora investigated a crash that left one driver seriously injured and a major intersection closed on Friday morning.

Police said one driver ran a stop sign at S. Peoria Street and E. Arkansas Avenue in Aurora, near S. Peoria and Mississippi, and slammed into an SUV. Investigating officers said it appears the driver of the Toyota Corolla who ran the stop sign was distracted.

The Toyota 4-Runner flipped over on its side and the driver was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. She is expected to survive.

The driver who ran the stop sign was not injured.

The Aurora Police Traffic Division continues to investigate the crash.
