Prison Sentence For Man In Taxi Driver Assault

DENVER (CBS4)- The man who assaulted a taxi driver and drove away in his cab was sentenced to prison on Friday.

Curt Glinton pleaded guilty earlier to assault in connection with the case. In exchange for that guilty plea numerous other charges, including attempted murder, were dismissed.

Glinton, 24, was sentenced to eight years in prison to be followed by three years of mandatory parole.

In the early morning hours of March 16, 2014, Glinton attacked a taxi driver and a passergy after arguing over the fare in the area of 44th Avenue and Tejon Street. He then got into the taxi and ran over the bystander, causing serious injuries, before he drove off.

"Mr. Garcia was a totally innocent Good Samaritan who rendered aid to a cab driver and as a result became horribly injured when Mr. Glinton ran over him with a car," said Denver Deputy District Attorney Kelly Waidler.
