Autopsy Determined Stolen Baby Cannot Be Considered Live Birth
DENVER (CBS4) - The Boulder County Coroner's Office released autopsy findings on a baby stolen from the mother's body in a stabbing attack.
The coroner determined that neither the autopsy nor the investigation provided any evidence that the baby exhibited any signs of life outside of the mother's womb. Therefore, the incident is not being considered a live birth.
It was announced on Thursday that Dynel Lane, the suspect accused of stabbing the mother and cutting out her baby, will not be charged with murder.
Lane has been detained for the attack on Michelle Wilkins.
Lane faces eight counts that include first-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and first-degree unlawful termination of pregnancy.
No evidence of trauma or injuries were found on the body of the 34-week gestation female.
A complete autopsy report will be released once all testing is completed.
