Take A Tour Inside The New DIA Hotel Before It Opens

DENVER (CBS4)- The Westin Hotel at Denver International Airport is still under construction, but soon the location will begin accepting reservations.

Crews are busy getting ready for the November opening. A lot of progress is seen from the outside but there is a lot of activity on the inside.

The $544 million project is within budget range for a project of its size. After nearly three years of nonstop construction there is something to show for it.

"As of last summer we've been out of the detour business," said deputy project manager Jacquie Rainey.

Rainey said some of the detours were taken to prevent future headaches, "The bridges were halfway through their lifespan. It made a lot of sense for us to do it all at once."

The transit center at DIA ties the hotel to the airport terminal which creates a seamless trip for passengers.

What makes the transit center so unique is the escalators that take passengers directly from transit to the Jeppesen Terminal.

"There are several airports in the U.S. and around the world that have hotels and there are several that have trains and commuter rail that come into the airport but nobody has it all right together, less than five minutes from the doorway of the airport," said Rainey.

The hotel rooms are spacious and have insulated, triple-paned windows that offer a great view of the airport property.

The hotel will have conference rooms and plaza where guests can enjoy restaurants, spectacular views and artwork by Colorado artists.
