Powderhorn Ski Resort Closes Early Because Of Warm Weather

MESA, Colo. (AP/CBS4) - Powderhorn Mountain Resort in western Colorado has closed for the winter season early because of a stretch of unseasonably warm weather.

The ski resort, which closed Monday, was forced to move all of its closing weekend festivities up a week because of a lack of quality snow.

The Powderhorn Strider Snow Cup and Powderhorn Pond Skim events were held over the weekend.

"We had a great season and we're really looking forward to installing our new high speed quad. Construction will start soon and we look forward to a wonderful new ski season next year already," Dusti Reimer with Powderhorn said.

Powderhorn, which was originally scheduled to close March 29, is about 20 miles east of Grand Junction.
