'Give LIVE' Headliner Has Personal Connection To Bonfils' Mission

DENVER (CBS4) - The Give LIVE Benefit Concert is coming up this Friday, and tickets are selling out fast, according to event organizer Bonfils Blood Center.

Bonfils is teaming up with co-sponsor 1st Bank to host the third annual event. The benefit concert will offer live music from headlining artist Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness with opening act Bear Hands.

Bonfils, Colorado's non-profit blood donation center, will use some funds raised to expand their reach to the community.

"Some of the funds that we raise through the Give LIVE concert we're going to invest in acquiring some new vehicles so that we can get out in the community and host blood drives," said Bonfils Blood Center spokeswoman Julie Scott.

Scott also told CBS4 how headliner Andrew McMahon has a special connection to Bonfils, and donation clinics just like it.

"When he was 22, he was diagnosed with leukemia. And in 2005, he was lucky enough to receive a lifesaving stem cell transplant from his sister. So he explored that situation through this album... and we're just happy that he's a part of the event," she said.

The Give LIVE event will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 27th at the Paramount Theater. Corporate sponsorships and individual VIP tickets are sold out, but reserved tickets, starting at $25, are still available, and can be purchased through altitudetickets.com.
