Heat Breaking Colorado Weather Records, Raising Fire Danger
DENVER (AP) - The heat is breaking more weather records in Colorado and raising the risk of wildfires.
Denver set a record high temperature for the second straight day Monday when the mercury hit 77 before noon. The old record was 75, set back during March 2012, a time of above average heat and dry weather around the state.
The temperature in Pueblo hit 81 degrees just after noon Monday, also breaking the high from 2012.
Western Colorado is also setting records. The high in Montrose hit 71 on Sunday, breaking the high of 70 from 2012.
A red flag warning is in effect in northeastern Colorado through 6 p.m. because of the heat and winds gusting up to 25 mph.
