The first happened early Sunday morning near Monaco and Alameda outside the Lex at Lowry apartments in the 6700 Block of East Cedar Avenue. Two people died.

And another person died in a shooting in the 3200 block of Pontiac Street near Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard. Police are searching for the gunman who shot a man down outside of a home. Police are looking into whether that shooting is somehow connected to the murders at the Lex at Lowry apartments.

"It is highly disturbing to have four deaths -- four murders in our community in a 24 hour period," said community activist Brother Jeff Fard of Brother Jeff's Cultural Center.

"When I think about what is causing this, I think it's deep despair. I think there's a lot of engagement and involvement in young people's lives that is not taking place," he said.

Fard says the violence has to stop.

"We have to bring attention to what's happening in our community, but we also have to seek solutions," he said.

Fard will be among those holding the meeting at 6:30 p.m. outside District 2 police headquarters at 39th and Holly Street.

They will seek information from police and try to come up with some answers.

A shooting that left one person injured also took place early Monday morning on the 1900 block of South Depew Street near Jewell. It may be a case of domestic violence.
