Judge Won't Accept Plea Of Suspect In Lakewood Lawyer Murder Case

GOLDEN, Colo. (CBS4) - The family of a Lakewood lawyer who was raped and killed in her office two years ago is having to relive all the details again and again as the suspect keeps sending handwritten motions to the judge.

The family of Claudia Miller came to Jefferson County Court on Thursday after the suspect, Warren Watson, said he wanted to plead guilty to the murder, which was against the advice of his attorneys.

The judge wouldn't accept his plea because Watson wasn't making any sense in court.

Another hearing is scheduled for April.

Miller, 61, was found dead in March 2013. A CBS4 Investigation into her murder found that before the murder Colorado's parole board had released Watson from prison several years early, terming him a "low risk" for recidivism. But the CBS4 probe found that Watson had a long history of escaping from parole situations.
