The sheriff's department said the accuser is Weigum's close relative and was not a student at the principal's school.

"It does not appear in the preliminary investigation that it is anyone who ever attended or who is attending Ute Meadows Elementary," Mark Techmeyer with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office told CBS4.

The sheriff's office said the alleged victim recently contacted them to inform them about alleged sexual assaults.

Weigum is currently in custody on charges of aggravated incest, sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, and sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust pattern.

Weigum has worked at Ute Meadows Elementary since 2001. He's has been placed on administrative leave from the school. The district hasn't commented or notified parents about the arrest.

Some Ute Meadows Elementary parents told CBS4 they are shocked. Due to the open investigation authorities cannot reveal more details, but are convinced that all children at Ute Meadows Elementary are safe.

"If we feel like there's any other thing that develops that would lead us to believe there was more to this than this one victim, then we would certainly reach out to the school district and parents," Techmeyer said.

Weigum is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
