Denver Officer Accused Of Domestic Violence Posts Cryptic Status On Facebook

DENVER (CBS4) - A veteran of the Denver police force for more than 30 years faces charges of domestic violence in Adams County.

Todd Parro, 54, appeared in court Wednesday morning and his bond was set at $1,500.

Commerce City police Tuesday afternoon responded to the 11500 block of Chambers Drive on report of a domestic violence incident. After an investigation Parro was arrested and transported to the Adams County Detention Facility with charges of third degree assault and domestic violence.

Property records indicate Parro lives at the Chambers Drive address with the victim, Cathleen Ridgeway.

Just hours before Parro's arrest a cryptic status was posted to his Facebook account stating in part, "Situations in my life have made me decide it's time to leave Facebook, so by March 15 I will be closing my account down."

CBS4 learned Parro once worked as a school resource officer for District 4. A Denver Police Department spokeswoman wouldn't confirm his assignment, but did say Parro has been with the department for more than 30 years.

In the arrest affidavit Parro admits to throwing a wooden jewelry box and hitting Ridgeway in the forehead.

"I did it. I got into an argument with Cathleen and hit her in the head with a small wooden box," Parro told police.

In Tuesday's court appearance Parro mentioned his 30 years with the police department to try to get a property bond. The judge denied that request. He's expected back in court Friday for formal reading of charges.
