Woman Charged In Crash That Killed Jefferson County Deputy

GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) — Prosecutors have charged a woman they say struck and killed an off-duty Jefferson County sheriff's deputy who was directing traffic at the scene of a multi-car crash last month.

The Jefferson County District Attorney's Office said Friday that 22-year-old Blair Gledhill was charged with careless driving causing death and careless driving causing bodily injury.

Authorities say Gledhill lost control of her car on Jan. 3 while driving on snowy U.S. 285 near Conifer. Her car crossed the highway, striking Sergeant Sean Renfro, another person and a vehicle.

Renfro had stopped to help a family involved in a different crash. The 15-year department veteran left behind a wife and four children.

Court records don't list an attorney for Gledhill. She is scheduled to appear in court April 14.
