Officials Search For Owner Of Horses Involved In Car Crash

ELBERT COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - Early Thursday morning an accident occurred involving a vehicle and four horses that had wandered on to Highway 86 at Cherokee Trail, just west of Elizabeth.

The driver was not injured in the crash, but three of the four horses were killed.

The surviving horse was taken to a deputy's barn that was close to the scene of the accident. It is unknown who the horses belong to, which is why the fourth is being held at the nearby barn.

If you have any information on the animals' owner, you are asked to contact the Elbert County Sheriff's Office at 303-660-7500.
