Red Hot Valentine's Day Weather Stats For Denver

DENVER (CBS4) - When you look at all of the February 14 weather data in Denver since 1872, you find out that typically, it's just an average winter day in the city.

Between 1872-2014, the average high on Valentine's Day is 45°F and the average low is 20°, not too far off the 30-year averages of 46°F and 18°F.

The warmest Feb. 14 in the Denver climate record occurred in 1924 with a high of 71°F and a low of 40°F.

The high also reached 71°F on Feb. 14, 1979.

The coldest high on Valentine's Day was 8°F on Feb. 14, 1895 and the coldest low was -10°F in 1903.

The low has only fallen below zero on Valentine's Day in Denver 8 times.

The wettest and snowiest Feb. 14 happened in 1960 when 0.41 inches of precipitation fell which totaled 5 inches of snow.

Feb. 14, 1987 was also fairly wet with a mix of rain and snow that totaled 0.41 inches of precipitation and 3.3 inches of snow.

The forecast this year is looking nice and mild ahead of a major weather change set to take place early next week.

In fact, it has the potential to be one of the 10 warmest on record in Denver.
