Colorado Establishments Awarded Forbes Travel Ratings

DENVER (CBS4) - Forbes Travel Guide released their list of worldwide 2015 Star Award-winning hospitality establishments on Wednesday. And several Colorado locations made the five-star list.

The two Colorado hotels that received five-star rating awards were The Broadmoor and The Little Nell. The Broadmoor, located on 3,000 acres of land in Colorado Springs, was touted as "classic luxury at the edge of the Rockies." It has endless outdoor activities, including a zoo, and has an interesting history tied to the prohibition era.

The Little Nell is "a former miner town's hospitality gem," at the base of a mountain in Aspen. Suites are dotted with cozy cocoons and fireplaces, in addition to spectacular mountain views.

Spa at The Broadmoor was also awarded one of two five-star ratings spas in Colorado. The other went to The Spa at Four Seasons Vail.

Element 47, signature restaurant of The Little Nell in Aspen, was rated as one of Colorado's five-star restaurants. It underwent a makeover in 2012, and now represents Aspen's rich silver-mining history. It also has 20,000 bottles of wine to choose from.

The other five-star restaurant in Colorado is the Penrose Room, located within the Broadmoor. Its dining room offers magnificent views of Colorado Springs and Cheyenne Mountain, and the menu changes often.
