After 44 Years, Heritage Square Will Close At End Of 2015

GOLDEN, Colo. (CBS4)- After 44 years, a popular attraction in the foothills of the Denver metro area is closing. Heritage Square will close at the end of the year.

The Victorian-themed entertainment village opened in 1971. The current property manager, Peter Bovis, made the announcement on Thursday.

"We are announcing the closure of Heritage Square in advance of the season to afford the public the opportunity to enjoy the property, shops and attractions one final season," said Bovis.

The closure includes the alpine slide, all the shops and businesses. The exceptions will be the amusement park and Victorian Event Center which will remain open as stand-alone operations.

No reason was given for the closure.

Heritage Square is located at 18301 West Colfax Ave. in Golden.
