Woman Violently Attacked While Taking Out Garbage, Suspect At Large

LOVELAND, Colo. (CBS4) - A dangerous man is on the run after he tried to assault a Loveland woman taking out the garbage Sunday evening.

The woman, who didn't want her identity known because the attacker is still loose, described the frightening moment when out of nowhere a stranger grabbed her from behind.

"I felt someone behind me and he put his hand over my mouth," the woman said. "He told me that if I screamed that he'd be back for more."

She said the first thing that came to her mind was her daughter, and in the same moment the mother of a 4-month-old baby was being attacked, she began fighting back.

"I know I kicked him once and then he jammed his leg between my legs and pinned me up against the trashcan," she said.

Kicking and scratching, she tried to get away, but her attacker pushed back.

"He was jabbing me in the side with something, I don't know what it was, kind of jagged, and he ripped my dress."

She said the neighbor's then dog started barking, which brought the suspect to a stop.

"He grabbed me by the back of my head and threw me to the ground and said he'd be coming back," she said. "He just ran off after that."

Fearing he'd come back soon she ran inside to call police. Minutes later officers were scouring the neighborhood with K-9s hoping to find the suspect, but he's still on the run.

"Just more scared than anything," she said. "No matter how comfortable you think you are, you need to pay attention to your surroundings."

Loveland police want neighbors and others in the community to do the same.

She tried as best as she could but still didn't see her attacker's face. He's described as about 6-foot-2 with a medium build. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and sweat pants with a white stripe.

Anyone with information is urged to call Loveland police.
