FBI Joins Sloan's Lake Homicide Investigation

DENVER (CBS4) - The FBI has now joined the investigation of a homicide case in Denver's Sloan's Lake neighborhood. The suspect, Daniel Gonzales, was arrested in Orlando, Florida, where he will be held until he's brought back to Denver to face the charges.

The man killed at his home on Java Court was 66-year-old Francis Canham, known as Frank to some of his neighbors. A small memorial sits on the front steps of his home.

Gonzales was taken into custody last Thursday night, one day after Frank was found dead in his home in northwest Denver. Questions remain as to how and why Frank was murdered.

Officers discovered his body Wednesday morning after responding to a welfare check. Neighbors said he apparently hadn't been seen at work since the Friday before.

Most neighbors said they did not know Frank, and only saw him in passing. A few have said he usually kept to himself and seemed extra cautious, especially when it came to protecting his belongings.

Orlando police, Denver police, and the FBI are not releasing any additional details in this case.
