3 Dogs Shot In Colorado Springs In Past Month

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Colorado Springs have a third case of someone shooting a dog and are looking for the person responsible.

This most recent shooting happened in the city's Old Colorado City district.

The dog, whose name is Robbie, came home with a gunshot wound in his neck last week. CBS4 partner KKTV reported the young dog often wanders through his neighborhood and is considered friendly.

The first shooting happened at the beginning of January when someone shot and killed a dog named Sydney, an Australia Shepherd, while she was playing in fetch.

Sydney's owner, who didn't want to be identified, is frightened.

"I'm just in disbelief," said Sydney's owner. "She still had the ball in her mouth when the first shot when off."

Then on Jan. 18 someone shot at another dog, Lea, as her owner was walking her. Lea was not hit.

In all three cases the dogs were off-leash, but the incidents are spread out.

One man is offering a $3,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
