5 Super Bowl Alternatives For Front Range Sports Fans Looking For Live Action

DENVER (CBS4) - Tired of hearing about New England and Seattle? Want something else to watch on Sunday? Well, there there aren't many options for you.

For most Broncos fans, the Patriots and the Seahawks are two of the most-hated teams in the league. For that reason, watching the Super Bowl this year doesn't sound like such a pleasant experience.

Our guess is you'll probably watch the game anyway, but here are five options for alternative live local sporting events you can check out on Sunday. The Nuggets and the Avalanche have the day off, so this is all college-level sporting matchups.

1. CU women's hoops
You can watch the University of Colorado Buffaloes women's basketball team take on Arizona at 1 p.m. at the Coors Events Center in Boulder. The CU women are trying to get back to .500 and currently have a 9-10 record. The game will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network.

2. Air Force Falcons Men's Wrestling
The Falcons host a dual meet on Sunday. At 11 a.m. they face South Dakota State and at 1 p.m. they are matched up against Grand Canyon. If you can't make it to Colorado Springs to see all the action on the mat, it will be available online at trackwrestling.com.

3. Wyoming Cowboys Wrestling vs. North Dakota State
Okay, so this isn't really that "local," but at 12 p.m. the Cowboys are matched up against the North Dakota State Bison. The action starts at 12 p.m. up in Laramie. If you're eager to catch these wrestlers in action, it's only about a 2 hour drive from Denver, and you probably won't have to wrestle with much traffic.

4. Air Force Falcons Women's Tennis, Men's Gymnastics
The Air Force Academy campus in Colorado Springs is bustling with sporting events on Sunday where other Front Range college campuses are relatively quiet. In addition to the aforementioned men's wrestling dual meet, there is a women's tennis match against Kansas State Wildcats at 8:30 a.m. and another against the University of Missouri-Kansas City Kangaroos at 3 p.m. And there's also a men's gymnastics meet against rival Army at noon.

5. CU & CSU women's tennis showdown
You can venture up to the Fort Collins Country Club to watch some tennis. This matchup between the Buffs and the Rams starts at 1 p.m.
