Denver Firefighters Investigate Cause Of Fire That Destroyed Home

DENVER (CBS4)- Fire investigators in Denver are trying to figure out what started a fire that destroyed a home in North Denver on Wednesday afternoon.

Flames broke out about 2 p.m. Wednesday in the 2100 block of West Elk Place near 48th and Zuni.

Dozens of firefighters worked to take control of the fire. The majority of the damage is to the back of the home.

No one was hurt in the fire. All of the people inside were able to escape the flames.

There were some scary moments during the fire when one of the family pets was missing.

"Except for one dog that was misplaced, we were able to find and retrieve that dog, he was unharmed during the incident," said Denver Fire Department spokesman Patrick Towland.

An arson investigation unit is examining the damage from the fire to rule out foul play.
