Man Accused Of Shooting At Officers Goes To Trial For The Second Time
CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (CBS4) - The second trial has begun for a man who allegedly shot at police officers in Castle Rock.
Lonnie Pebley, 43, is accused of hiding in the bushes and shooting at the officers two years ago on the Fourth of July. He then ran off, leading police on a 7-hour manhunt.
Neighbors began getting calls from police asking people to stay inside their homes.
"The second one kind of explained what was going one, it said that there was an active shooter in the neighborhood," resident Mitch Dullek said in 2012.

Pebley's defense team says the father and husband was at a barbeque that evening with his family, had been drinking, and walked off. They also say Pebley's medication for rheumatoid arthritis had recently been switched. They believe the medication -- Plaquenil -- created a psychotic episode, a rare side effect of the drug, according to the defense.
The first trial ended in a mistrial last spring because a witness referred to Pebley's criminal history during the trial.
