'Mile High Mike' Alvarado Sees 2 Fingers As 4, Loses In TKO To Rios
BROOMFIELD, Colo. (CBS4) - Denver boxer Mike Alvarado lost Saturday night's fight against Brandon Rios at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield.
The fight was stopped in the third round after a doctor put up two fingers in front of Alvarado's face and asked, "How many?" Alvarado responded, "Four."
Rios (33-2-1) won against Alvarado (34-4) by technical knockout. Rios called it "my best fight ever."
"Our careers were on the line," Rios said. "I had to prove to everybody that I'm here to stay."

It was Alvarado's second loss in three fights between the two boxers.
Rios won $850,000 for the win and Alvarado took home $785,000.

Alvarado's loss comes as he faces felony weapons charges in Denver. He was arrested after an officer saw him with a gun in his car. As a previous offender it's illegal for Alvarado to have a firearm.
