Crime Problems Prompt 24-Hour Patrol At Boulder's Main Library
BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - There's such a problem with bad behavior and criminal activity inside and outside the main library in Boulder that police are now on nonstop watch.
Police officers have stepped up patrols at the main library on Arapahoe Avenue. There have been problems with drug use, alcohol, bathing in the bathrooms and fights.
The library hopes the increased patrols will bring back peace and quiet to the library.
"When the situation escalates, we're just really unprepared for that event," Library and Arts Director David Farnan said. "So I believe having the police here is going to have, not only for addressing some of the situations, but we hope to actually use them for some training for our staff and how to recognize when an event might be one of danger to them."
In the past the library staff has had to call for police and paramedics to help its own security force.
