CDOT Unveils Radio Broadcast For Weekend I-70 Travelers

DENVER, Colo. (CBS4) – Traveling from Denver to the mountains for a ski weekend is often a time-consuming and crowded venture. Colorado Department of Transportation recognizes that, and is launching a radio broadcast to keep drivers informed.

Starting on Saturday, Interstate 70 Mountain Travel Radio will update listeners on weather conditions, drive times, and traffic delays between Denver and Vail.

"Conditions along the I-70 Mountain Corridor change extremely quickly, and doing a live broadcast is one of the best ways to inform motorists and keep them updated with the most accurate info," CDOT spokeswoman Amy Ford said in a statement.

They'll also provide information about carpooling, snowplow safety, tire safety, as well as discounts and events at ski resorts and mountain towns. This includes CDOT's Peak Time Deals -- discounts for drivers who choose to avoid I-70 traffic at its peak times and instead enjoy deals throughout the mountain corridor.

The new radio will coincide with the busiest travel times, broadcasting every Saturday and Sunday morning from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., and again in the afternoon from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Listeners can tune in through CoTrip.org or through the CDOT Mobile app.
