Suspect Flashes 'Thumbs Up' To Clerk During Attempted Robbery

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- Deputies in the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office are investigating an attempted robbery where the would-be robber left the store and gave the clerk a "thumbs up" sign. A nearby convenience store was robbed a short time later with the same suspect description.

Deputies were dispatched to the Quick Save convenience store located at 4895 Ward Road on a report of an attempted robbery.

The store clerk told deputies that a male suspect, wearing a blue hoodie jacket, blue bandana, jeans, and red and yellow shoes, entered the store. He had the bandana over the lower half of his face and the hoodie pulled over his head.

The suspect looked at the clerk and said, "I was going to rob this place, but I know you."

The suspect then asked the clerk, "Do you know me?"

The clerk replied that he did not. The suspect then stated, "Good," and walked out of the store while giving the "thumbs up" sign to the clerk.

The suspect vehicle is described as an older 90s, full-size gray or silver four-door sedan. It has dark purple tinted windows and no visible license plates.

Shortly after the attempted robbery at the Quick Save, a 7-Eleven located at W. 58th Avenue and Ward Road in Arvada was robbed by a male fitting the same description.
