9 Deer Killed By Hunters In Culling Program In Elizabeth
ELIZABETH, Colo. (AP) - Officials say nine deer were killed in Elizabeth last hunting season as part of a program to manage the population of the animals in the small town southeast of Denver.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife said Tuesday the deer were killed on town-owned land between early October and late December by five bow hunters.
The hunters were chosen and certified for specifically for the program.
The meat was donated to food banks.
Town officials approved the plan in July. Parks and Wildlife says there had been many conflicts in Elizabeth between deer and humans.
Elizabeth is about 15 miles east of Castle Rock.
