Denver Botanic Gardens Installs Permanent Chihuly Work

DENVER (CBS4) - If you need your Chihuly fix, you can get it starting this week.

The Denver Botanic Gardens on Tuesday unveiled its permanent installation from artist Dale Chihuly, whose glass sculptures graced the gardens this summer and helped set attendance records.

The installation, called "Colorado," is made from 1,017 hand-blown glass elements and stands more than 14 feet tall. It's primarily red, orange and yellow with white highlights. Chihuly said he used the color palette because it reminded him of the skies and sunsets he saw during his visits to Denver.

Private donors helped secure the work for the gardens.

The exhibit ran from June 14 to Nov. 30.
