Crews Looking For Gas Leak On Breckenridge's Main Street

BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. (CBS4) - A part of Breckenridge's tourist-heavy Main Street remained shuttered on Monday as the source of a gas leak continued to elude firefighters and Xcel Energy crews.

At noon on Sunday, firefighters from the Red, White & Blue Fire Protection District were called to investigate a gas leak near 319 N. Main St.

The leak could be smelled outdoors, prompting the evacuation and closure of the street between Watson Avenue and North French Street. Four buildings, including shops and restaurants, have been evacuated. Traffic through town is not affected.

Xcel has been working since then to locate the source of the leak. It said it was digging through a lot of ice to identify the source and make repairs.
