Boulder Removes Anti-Cop Graffiti Scrawled Across Wall

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - Anti-cop graffiti that read "No Justice! Cop Lives Don't Matter" was spray-painted on a wall in east Boulder recently.

On Friday morning, the city painted over the message -- found on a wall on Foothills Parkway between Colorado Avenue and Baseline Road -- the Daily Camera reported.

The phrase is possibly an adaptation of "Black Lives Matter," a popular rallying call that's been widely employed in recent protests across the nation over police actions against black males.

In a statement released by the city, the police department asked the community to "remember that all lives matter." It said it's trying to balance support of police officers with residents' right to protest.

The city said the police department wouldn't comment further.

More than 400 graffiti tags are removed every year in Boulder, the city said. This is the first time they've seen one targeting police.

"I think, for this area, it's pretty shocking," resident Tim Brown told CBS4 on Friday. He said he sees graffiti occasionally, but he's never seen such a vitriolic statement in that community.

"Nothing that big," he said.
