Man Allegedly Beat Woman With Frying Pan, Held Her In Home

DURANGO, Colo. (CBS4) - A 46-year-old La Plata County man is facing felony assault and false imprisonment charges after police say he beat a 55-year-old woman and held her in her home against her will.

Police say on Wednesday morning they responded to the home, located on La Plata County Road 318, and found the victim with multiple injuries. She was taken to the hospital.

They also found Edward Venteroso and arrested him.

Before the alleged attack, Venteroso was under a court order not to have contact with the victim, whose property he had been living on.

Police say they suspect he beat the victim with a cast iron frying pan, among other objects, and refused to let her out of her home or to call for medical attention. The crime allegedly took place over a two-day period.

Venteroso was being held at the La Plata County Detention Center.
