FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4)– The oldest penguin in the world is undergoing cancer treatment at Colorado State University.
Tess is a 40-year-old African Penguin. She’s already beaten the odds for longevity and now researchers are trying to help her keep her quality of life.
Tess has skin cancer on her face.
She recently underwent radiation therapy at CSU.
They assembled a team of veterinarians, residents, interns, staff and students to help Tess with treatment and recovery.
They say it’s all worth it because African Penguins are an endangered species and they want to help her make an impact.
Tess lives at the Pueblo Zoo with other penguins.
