Milwaukee Street Hit & Run Victim Dies From Injuries

DENVER (CBS4) - A woman who was seriously injured and hospitalized after a car struck her in an alley in northeast Denver on Tuesday night has died.

Denver police said the driver fled the accident near 33rd Avenue and Milwaukee Street, north of City Park, at about 8 p.m.

Police said a silver- or grey-colored Ford F150 truck with a stripe on the side was seen leaving the area.

It's unclear how the victim, a 53-year-old Hispanic woman, was discovered or if she called 911. Her name hasn't been released.

A mobile app can get anyone with a smartphone involved in the search for a hit-and-run driver, it's called the Medina Alert program.

The alert system is named for Denver parking valet, Jose Medina. He was killed by a hit-and-run driver three years ago.

The system works like an Amber Alert, using email, text and broadcasts to tell people to look out for hit-and-run suspects and their vehicles. It's already active in Denver and Aurora.
