Daddy Bruce Randolph's 'Feed A Family' Thanksgiving Helping Needy For 50 Years

DENVER (CBS4) - Volunteers handed out Thanksgiving food baskets to needy families in the Denver area Saturday morning.

The Feed a Family Thanksgiving tradition started 50 years ago when Daddy Bruce Randolph fed people from his restaurant.

This is the 10th year that the Epworth Foundation has carried on the tradition. Volunteers handed out 10,000 baskets with turkey, stuffing and more -- enough for a family of eight.

"This year is the 50th anniversary when Daddy Bruce, who founded it all down the street, he would feed the people of the community a Thanksgiving dinner," Epworth Foundation Assistant Pastor Jeff Kanost said. "Well it would be hard for us to feed the 60,000 people down here, so we do the next best thing to carry on his tradition that he started on Thanksgiving in 1964."

More families will be picking up their food baskets at Sports Authority Field at Mile High on Tuesday.
