5th 'Wine, Women & Football' Huge Success For Brandon Center

DENVER (CBS4)- The 5th annual Wine, Women and Football event, partnering CBS4 with the Volunteers of America, was a huge success.

More than $50,000 was raised Tuesday night for the Brandon Center, a shelter program for homeless women and homeless women with children, as well as those women fleeing domestic violence situations. That is enough to fund about 1,625 nights for those women.

The event allows women to enjoy some good wine, food and friends while mingling and talking football with some of their favorite Denver Broncos players.

This year's event featured Broncos players Brandon Marshall, Rahim Moore, Von Miller, Orlando Franklin, Quinton Carter, Emmanuel Sanders and Rod Smith.

"Just to see everybody out here to support our Broncos and just how much they love us. Actually it's inspiring, it gives us motivation to constantly keep doing well and constantly keep supporting them as well and give them great football to see," said Broncos safety Rahim Moore.

Money was also raised through the event's silent auction, where attendees bid on several Broncos items including signed footballs and jerseys, as well as other items donated by local businesses.

"My mom, she was one of these women, battered woman back in her day, so it means a lot to me and my family for things like this to be put on so I'm just happy that everybody came out and I'm glad that these women are here. I love women and I love football," said Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall.
