Victim In Federal Street Accident Racing Dies

DENVER (CBS4) - A woman died last week from injuries she suffered in an accident caused earlier this month by street racing.

Rachel Neiman, 26, died at a hospital, the Colorado State Patrol said. She and six others were hospitalized after the accident at 54th Avenue and Federal Boulevard on Nov. 7.

The state patrol said two cars sped northbound at nearly 100 mph on Federal around 9 p.m. when one car, a Volvo, lost control, spun out and crashed head-on into Neiman's car in the southbound lanes. Neiman and three of her passengers were hospitalized.

The driver of the Volvo, David Felan, 20, suffered moderate injuries. Two of his passengers were also injured. A fourth, police believe, fled the scene.

The state patrol said earlier they believe alcohol played a role in the crash. They are still seeking the driver of the second car involved in the racing.

No charges have been filed in the crash.
