Denver's Mile High Holidays Entices Shoppers To Buy Locally
DENVER (CBS4) - The city of Denver is marketing holiday events and shopping with the hope of encouraging shoppers to buy locally.
As part of the initiative, hotels in Denver are offering one-night stays starting at $52.80.
The city is also promoting local events, such as Chihuly Nights at the Denver Botanic Gardens, the holiday high tea tour at the Brown Palace, and the Brilliant: Cartier in the 20th Century exhibit at the Denver Art Museum.

Denver Mayor Michael Hancock said participating in Mile High Holidays helps bolster the local economy.
"When you shop locally, it creates jobs and helps sustain jobs. Of course it helps us do a lot more in the city, whether it's providing for our police and fire and emergency response (and) our roads. So it's important so as we all go out to purchase stuff for the holidays to buy locally," Hancock said.
