Arvada Breaks Ground On RTD Transit Hub

ARVADA, Colo. (CBS4) - Officials broke ground on Thursday on the RTD transit hub in Arvada's Olde Town district.

The transit hub -- located just east of the city's water tower -- will serve the gold commuter rail line. It will feature 600 parking spaces, a bus transfer facility and four pedestrian plazas.

The project, expected to cost $36 million, is scheduled to be completed in 2016.

City officials called the project the "crown jewel" of the gold line.

"Our hope is that you're going to have people in downtown Denver who want to come out and see an authentic old town area," Mayor Marc Williams said. "Not only will our folks take the train downtown but people downtown (will) come out to our community."
