Man Pleads Guilty In Cold Case Kidnapping, Sex Assault
DENVER (CBS4) - A man charged with the kidnapping and sexual assault of a teenage girl in 1995 pleaded guilty on Wednesday.
Markie Lee Peoples, 41, pleaded guilty to one count of kidnapping a victim of sexual assault, a felony.
He faces 20 years in prison when he's sentenced in January.
Peoples kidnapped and sexually assaulted the 14-year-old victim in March 1995 after offering her a ride. The case remained unsolved until June 2013 when new DNA technology enabled authorities to match Peoples' DNA to biological material found on the victim's clothing.
The crime was unsolved at the time of the assault. It was revisited in 2004.
