Man Sentenced To 87 Years For Role In Cop's Shooting Injury

DENVER (CBS4) - Chuck Montoya, the man convicted in car chase and shooting that wounded a Denver police officer, was sentenced to 87 years in prison on Friday.

Sgt. Robert Motyka was shot in the shoulder during the pursuit of Montoya and three others on Jan. 16, 2013. He recovered.

Police shot and killed another suspect, John Montoya, after police pursued the suspects across several Denver neighborhoods.

The chase started when John Montoya became upset over the death of his infant daughter and held a relative at gunpoint. He fled in a truck and was later involved in a shootout with police after they had spotted the truck.
