Man In Custody After Fatal Shooting At Walmart In Aurora

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - An arrest has been made after a deadly shooting that occurred in a Walmart parking lot Monday night.

A 61-year-old man was shot and killed in the parking lot of the Walmart located at the intersection of Parker Road and Florida Avenue at approximately 8:45 p.m.

"The victim was immediately transported to Aurora South Hospital and Medical Center by Cunningham Fire Protection District, where he was pronounced deceased," the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

Daniel Fougner, 54, was taken into custody at the scene. He is described as a transient. He's expected to be charged with first-degree murder.

The victim's name hasn't been released.

More than 12 hours later there were still large parts of the shopping complex blocked off as deputies continued to investigate the shooting.

Arapahoe County Sheriff's spokesman Vince Line said officers from the Aurora Police Department and Denver police assisted them with their investigation.
