2 Dead In Castle Rock After Police Surround Home

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (CBS4) - Police found two people dead inside a Castle Rock home Sunday morning after authorities surrounded the house for hours and evacuated 13 homes in the neighborhood.

Police said the bodies of a 24-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man were inside the house located in the 4000 block of Windmill Way.

Police tried to coax the pair outside but busted into the home shortly after 8 a.m.

Tim Gorman, a police spokesman, said the investigation will continue Monday. Police didn't release the victims' names or causes of death. Crime scene tape was still blocking off the home Sunday evening.

Neighbors said the couple who lived at the house were renters.

"It was very sad it ended that way because they were pleading with them that they wanted to help them," witness Mary West said.

A neighbor, Mike Stokes, said people in the neighborhood could hear the final moments before the disturbance turned deadly.

"Everybody's just totally shocked," he said, "because it's a quiet neighborhood, and it's a quiet street."
