2 Plead Guilty In Death Of Grenada Officer

GRENADA, Miss. (AP) — Two men have each been sentenced to life in prison without parole in the 2011 death of Grenada Police Capt. John Wayne Haddock.

Prosecutors say 23-year-old Kyle David Wendt and 44-year-old Thomas Leland Lee each pleaded guilty this week to capital murder in Grenada County Circuit Court.

Authorities say Wendt was driving the vehicle that struck the 50-year-old Haddock as the officer attempted to lay spikes across Mississippi Highway 8 West to stop a high-speed chase, on Oct. 7, 2011. Lee was a passenger in the car.

Lee is from West Monroe, Louisiana. Wendt is from Colorado Springs, Colorado.
